NFL insider Jeff Howe stepping away from The Athletic for treatment of serious health issue

NFL insider Jeff Howe announced on X that he will step away from his role at The Athletic to undergo more aggressive treatment for a serious health condition he has been battling privately for about 18 months. He said he hopes to return before the regular season ends but is focusing on recovery now and asked for support from fans and colleagues.

Howe, who joined The Athletic in 2018 during its Boston launch and authored a book on the New England Patriots, previously disclosed a thyroid cancer scare in 2018 that later proved negative. No further details about his current illness were provided.
