NFL betting, odds, lines: Betting trends to know for Week 6's biggest games

October 14, 2026

Week 6 of the NFL season has already delivered some surprising betting trends that could shape wagers this weekend. Underdogs have outperformed favorites at the sportsbook, covering the spread in 42 of their 69 matchups so far—including a strong 27-17 record since Week 3.

Meanwhile, heavy favorites (those with six-plus points) have struggled against the spread, going just 7-15-3 despite winning outright 18-7. Prime-time games have been particularly volatile, with favorites collapsing in 10 of 16 contests and posting a dismal 4-12 record against the spread.

On the totals board, low-scoring games (40 points or fewer) have favored the under 6-2, while high-scoring affairs (50-plus points) have seen the over dominate 8-2. This week’s slate includes five such high-scoring matchups, with the Texans-Jaguars clash in London standing out as a potential blowout, given the teams’ recent history of close, high-point games in their rivalry.

The Texans enter as underdogs after a dominant Week 5 win over the Titans, marking their first positive result since the start of the season. Houston has thrived as an underdog since last year’s Week 12, going 4-1 with the exception of a narrow loss to Buffalo.

Jacksonville, meanwhile, has been a defensive powerhouse since Week 11 of 2025, holding 12 straight opponents to under 21 points while going 11-3 against the spread. The Ravens, meanwhile, face the Browns as a slight favorite, but their recent struggles as a favorite—especially with Lamar Jackson sidelined—could make this a winnable underdog bet, given their 0-3 record against the spread in prime-time games this season.
