NBA reportedly won't discipline Wizards, Bub Carrington after guard admitted team held back to get AJ Dybantsa

The Washington Wizards will avoid league penalties despite guard Bub Carrington openly admitting that the franchise intentionally underperformed last season to secure the top draft selection. Carrington explained in a recent digital interview that the roster was restricted in order to capture the draft rights to standout forward AJ Dybantsa, though team personnel are now free of such limitations heading into the new campaign.

Washington managed only seventeen victories during the 2025-26 term before capturing the premier pick, subsequently acquiring veteran All-Stars Trae Young and Anthony Davis.
