MS Dhoni holds more than 1 lakh CSK shares, but stake worth just INR 3 crore: Report

MS Dhoni, who has captained Chennai Super Kings to five Indian Premier League trophies during an association spanning nearly two decades, possesses a minor ownership position in the team. 6 and 3 crore against his estimated total wealth of INR 1,200 crore.

While the public controls around 40 percent through more than 30 crore shares and the Srinivasan family retains over 55 percent dominance, franchise leadership firmly rejected claims that Dhoni sought to purchase a primary ownership stake, confirming that no such dialogues ever took place with management or N. Srinivasan.

Beyond his equity status, Dhoni is set to contribute directly to identifying the squad's upcoming head coach following the departure of Stephen Fleming, who took the reins in 2009 and exited to direct England's Test side. With the iconic wicketkeeper-batter reportedly preferring a domestic successor, former Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani has emerged as the frontrunner for the post.
