A stunning reversal in Moto3 has seen Adrian Fernandez cleared of a six-race ban after Leopard Racing successfully appealed a controversial penalty handed down in June. The FIM’s International Court of Appeal overturned the disqualification, which had stripped Fernandez of results from the Thai, Brazilian, US, Spanish, French, and Catalan Grands Prix due to alleged unauthorized engine tampering.
The ruling, announced on October 15, reinstates Fernandez’s 77 lost points, catapulting him from 14th to fifth in the championship standings with 148 points—just two ahead of Marco Morelli. The decision raises questions about the technical inspection process and whether the original penalty was properly applied, though the FIM’s Technical Commission has four weeks to challenge the verdict.
Leopard Racing praised its supporters and legal team, calling the outcome a restoration of ‘honour and dignity’ for Fernandez and the team.
