Middlesex build big lead at Gloucestershire

Sam Robson anchored Middlesex with a resilient 92 from 198 balls at Bristol, driving his team to 298-6 in their second innings and establishing a commanding 328-run cushion on day three. Resuming at 17-0 under clear skies, the visitors recovered from the early departures of Luke Hollman for 24 and captain Max Holden to forge ahead, aided by an essential 113-run third-wicket partnership between Robson and Ben Geddes, who notched 57.

Left-arm spinner Sai Kishore eventually breached Robson's defence with a turning delivery to deny him three figures, leaving the visiting side four down for 193 by tea.

Gloucestershire exerted pressure through the afternoon and evening as Ed Middleton and JT Langridge captured a pair of wickets apiece, with Ryan Higgins falling for 13 and Caleb Falconer bowled for 31. However, Harry Duke's unbeaten 52 guided Middlesex firmly into control by the close, compounding the earlier foundations laid by Hollman's first-innings figures of 3-36 that had restricted Gloucestershire to 296 despite an unbeaten 90 from Daz Ahmed.
