Miami football news: Shannon Dawson takes shot at SEC ahead of Clemson clash

Ahead of their upcoming matchup with Clemson, Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson voiced strong criticism toward the SEC and the system of college football rankings. During an interview on Monday, Dawson questioned the heavy focus on SEC teams in the top 25 and argued that rankings should not be released until October, pointing out how inaccurate preseason polls often prove to be.

On the field, Dawson will welcome back star running back Mark Fletcher for the contest.

Alongside the return of Fletcher, the Miami offense has seen standout performances under Dawson's guidance, including record-setting production from quarterback Darian Mensah and Heisman contention status for wide receiver Malachi Toney. The Hurricanes' coaching staff aims to maintain this offensive momentum following previous high-profile victories against SEC opponents Texas A&M and Ole Miss.
