Max Verstappen brands F1 power units "LEGO" after Bahrain GP glitch

October 4, 2026

Following a wet race during the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen voiced strong disapproval of current Formula 1 engine rules. He likened the intricate powertrain systems to children's toy building blocks after technical software glitches triggered widespread power failures across the grid.

Despite these mechanical hurdles, the competitor successfully claimed his 72nd career race victory. This achievement also marked the inaugural triumph for Red Bull's newly established in-house powertrain division.
