The Atlanta Dream completed a three-game sweep of the New York Liberty in the WNBA semifinals, ending their playoff run with a 85-83 victory at Barclays Center. The sweep included two home wins by the Dream, with margins of 10 and 13 points in the first two games, respectively.
The series concluded with a two-point win by Atlanta in the third game, marking a combined 15-point advantage across all three matches.
French guard Marine Johannès, a key Liberty player since 2019, expressed uncertainty about her future with the team after the loss. She signed a one-year deal in April following her season with Galatasaray in Turkey, where she averaged 8.8 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 rebounds.
Over four seasons with New York, Johannès played 122 games, starting 20, and ranked among the Liberty’s top 10 all-time in three-point makes. Though she did not play in the 2024 WNBA season, she returned this year to average 8.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, including a career-high 25 points in May.
Johannès also set career highs in assists (11) and plus-minus (+31) later that month. Despite her contributions, she remains undecided about her next step, citing her deep connection to the team and city but acknowledging the need for clarity moving forward.
