Rahmat Shah made a remarkable start to his tenure as the leader of the Afghanistan Test squad by recording a century during the single Test match against Bangladesh. His resilient knock of 105 runs off 216 deliveries, featuring ten boundaries and a pair of maximums, established him as the first Afghan skipper to reach three figures on his captaincy debut.
Despite his efforts, the batting lineup struggled against the opposition attack, resulting in an all-out total of 240 in response to Bangladesh's first-innings score of 346, which left Afghanistan trailing by 106 runs. Abdul Malik contributed 62 runs while Ikram Alikhil added 32 to support the effort.
Meanwhile, Hasan Mahmud put up a stellar bowling display for Bangladesh by claiming five wickets, which included a historic hat-trick that made him the fastest fast bowler from his nation to reach 50 Test scalps. Ebadot Hossain also provided strong support with four dismissals.
Earlier in the match, the batting innings was anchored by Tanzid Hasan Tamim with 83 runs, Shadman Islam with 67, and Litton Das with 53, establishing a strong advantage for the hosts.
