Following a 3-2 defeat against the Montreal Canadiens to begin their schedule, the Toronto Maple Leafs continue their back-to-back sequence by facing the New York Islanders. Ahead of this contest, head coach Jim Hiller announced during an optional morning skate that Bo Groulx will make his season debut, though the player he replaces remains undisclosed.
Groulx spent the previous campaign split between the NHL, where he contributed five points across 13 appearances, and the AHL, where he helped the Toronto Marlies capture a championship with a strong offensive performance.
In addition to the lineup addition, the team will turn to Anthony Stolarz in goal to face the Islanders on the second night of consecutive games. Sergei Bobrovsky manned the crease during the opening loss to Montreal, turning away 21 of 24 shots on goal.
Meanwhile, defenseman Nick Blankenburg participated in the morning session but is slated to sit out as an extra for the second consecutive fixture.
