Robert MacIntyre may have concluded his season early due to escalating concerns over the Middle East conflict, leaving him tied for sixth at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews. The 30-year-old Scottish golfer, who won the event last year, has no current plans to compete in the upcoming Spanish Open or tournaments in India and South Korea.
His decision hinges on the evolving situation in the region, with MacIntyre stating he will wait until the week before the DP World Tour’s season-ending events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to make a final call. Fellow Ryder Cup player Matt Fitzpatrick has also expressed reservations about traveling to the area, though world number two Rory McIlroy has confirmed his intention to play both events.
MacIntyre reflected on a successful year, balancing life on and off the course, while acknowledging the challenges of mastering St Andrews’ iconic Old Course. Despite initially finding the links less appealing, he has grown more comfortable with its demands, crediting recent improvements in his game.
His next potential appearance could be in the Bahamas in December, pending his preparation for next season. MacIntyre remains committed to returning to St Andrews next summer, where the Old Course will host the 155th Open Championship, a tournament he clearly admires beyond its competitive significance.
