Jesús Luzardo will take the ball for Philadelphia in the opening contest of the National League Wild Card Series against Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon, serving as an opener while returning from a lengthy layoff. Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly confirmed the pitching plan at Truist Park, noting that Luzardo's workload will be carefully managed following a stretch of more than three weeks without an appearance.
Following Luzardo's departure from the mound, rookie right-hander Andrew Painter will be ready in relief, while Cristopher Sánchez is slated to take the start for Game 2.
