LIV Golf’s ambitious relaunch under its second iteration, LIV 2.0, is already facing significant challenges as two of its key players have reportedly decided against joining the revamped league. The most high-profile blow came when Jon Rahm’s representatives confirmed his absence, a major setback given his star power and influence.
Now, Polish golfer Adrian Meronk has also signaled he will not participate, despite his recent success on the DP World Tour. Meronk’s decision is particularly notable after he won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews earlier this week, finishing at 20-under and securing his fifth career title on the DP World Tour.
His victory also locked in his exemption on the circuit through 2028, providing him with a clear alternative path outside of LIV Golf. The league, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September, is attempting to restructure with a new ownership model and a $300 million financing package.
However, the simultaneous departures of Rahm and Meronk raise concerns about player retention and the league’s ability to build a sustainable roster amid its financial overhaul.
