Jon Rahm has officially rejected the terms for the upcoming iteration of the LIV Golf circuit, citing them as unsatisfactory. His legal representative confirmed that the golfer is currently negotiating a departure agreement with the organization, which is navigating US bankruptcy proceedings following the withdrawal of financial backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
While other competitors successfully petitioned to void their contracts, Rahm remains tied to the entity as he seeks a resolution by mid-October. The athlete, who is owed a significant sum from his original deal, faces a mandatory one-year ban before he can rejoin the PGA Tour.
Additionally, he recently settled outstanding penalties with the DP World Tour to maintain his future eligibility for the Ryder Cup. Rahm is currently absent from the Open de España to support his family during his wife's pregnancy.
