Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs made NFL history on Sunday by surpassing Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns scored before turning 25, with 12 games remaining in the 2026 season. Gibbs, who does not celebrate his 25th birthday until March, scored twice in a dominant 45-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals, including a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 3-yard burst in the fourth.
His performance was complemented by quarterback Jared Goff, who threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing score of his own, as the Lions’ offense exploded for 31 consecutive points after a slow start. The victory improved Detroit’s record to 3-2 heading into their bye week, with Gibbs finishing the game with 151 rushing yards and two touchdowns, further cementing his place among the league’s elite young talents.
