Lions called Steelers about Joey Porter Jr trade

The Detroit Lions have reached out to the Pittsburgh Steelers to inquire about a potential deal for 26-year-old cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Both Pittsburgh and the player are reportedly receptive to parting ways, with the defensive back willing to play elsewhere following a contract impasse.

Porter was held out of Pittsburgh's Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons as speculation surrounding his future mounted.

Detroit's interest follows a rough defensive outing in which their secondary surrendered 410 passing yards. Led by head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions are viewed as one of five possible landing spots for the defensive back, whose projected contract value sits between $38 million and $128 million across various market estimates.
