Liberty's Sandy Brondello Mistake Should be a Warning Sign for Fever
The Indiana Fever face a period of significant transition as they prepare for the 2027 season without President Kelly Krauskopf and General Manager Amber Cox. This leadership vacuum casts doubt on the tenure of head coach Stephanie White, as incoming management may prefer to install their own personnel.
The organization must weigh the risks of replacing a proven leader, especially given the high stakes surrounding stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. New York Liberty serves as a cautionary tale, as their decision to move on from Sandy Brondello—who secured a 2024 championship—resulted in a failed experiment with inexperienced coach Chris DeMarco.
That roster, featuring Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu, suffered a semifinal sweep, illustrating the danger of replacing established coaching talent with unproven options.
