The New York Liberty’s playoff hopes took another hit Wednesday night as the Atlanta Dream secured a hard-fought 101–98 overtime victory in Game 2 of their WNBA semifinal series. The Liberty, led by Breanna Stewart’s 35-point outburst—including 25 in the first half—fell short despite their star’s dominant performance, dropping to a 0–2 deficit in the best-of-five matchup.
The Dream, without starter Allisha Gray, relied on Jordin Canada and Angel Reese, who each scored 23 points, to extend their series lead. The loss leaves New York facing an insurmountable challenge: no WNBA team has ever overcome a 0–2 deficit in a best-of-five series.
Game 3, set for Friday in Brooklyn, will determine whether Atlanta clinches its first semifinal sweep since 2013 or if the Liberty can force a Game 4 showdown.
