Vicky Ostwal, the 24-year-old left-arm spinner, delivered a standout all-round performance for Maharashtra in their Ranji Trophy opener against Railways in Delhi. Batting at number 10, Ostwal scored a crucial 50 in the first innings, helping his team reach 333 and secure a commanding 110-run lead.
His bowling was equally impactful, with five wickets in 28 overs during Railways' second innings collapse to 120, marking his third five-wicket haul in the tournament. Ostwal, who views himself as a pure all-rounder, emphasized his dedication to red-ball cricket, calling it the format that tests patience, skill, and mental toughness the most.
The win provided a strong start to Maharashtra’s season, with stand-in captain Prithvi Shaw praising Ostwal’s contributions with both bat and ball.
