IPL franchise owners have reportedly paused major player trades ahead of the 2027 season due to the 16-day Pitru Paksha period, a time observed in Hindu tradition for ancestral rituals. The delay, which ended on October 10, has slowed negotiations as some owners considered it inauspicious to finalize transfers.
With the November 15 deadline for retention lists approaching, trade activity may soon accelerate ahead of the December mini-auction in Goa. Delhi Capitals have been the most active in recent deals, acquiring wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant from Lucknow Super Giants in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav, and later trading for leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari from Sunrisers Hyderabad in exchange for T Natarajan.
The franchise also reshaped its coaching staff, appointing Sourav Ganguly as head coach and Yuvraj Singh as assistant-cum-batting coach. Speculation remains around Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal, though few rumors have materialized into confirmed agreements so far.
