Lando Norris makes blunt McLaren admission after Singapore GP woes

Lando Norris admitted after the Singapore Grand Prix that McLaren have slipped to the bottom of the top‑four, describing the team as the ‘worst of the top four’. The British driver said the squad lacks any immediate upgrades and is currently fourth fastest, a step back to where they started the season.

McLaren sit third in the Constructors’ standings but are only six points ahead of Red Bull following the race, with Norris and Oscar Piastri occupying sixth and seventh in the drivers’ table. So far this year the team has claimed two race wins – both by Norris in Hungary and the Netherlands – plus a sprint race victory and several podiums across both drivers.

Norris also collided with teammate Oscar Piastri on the final lap of the sprint race, dropping from fourth and fifth to finish eighth with a single point.

With six rounds remaining in the 2026 campaign, Norris emphasized that the only path forward is to develop upgrades, even though none are scheduled for the near future. He stressed that McLaren can still contest for top‑four positions and occasional podiums, but the gap to the leading trio remains significant.
