Lancashire director of cricket Chilton to leave

Lancashire is undergoing a major internal restructure following a disappointing sporting year across both squads. Mark Chilton is departing his post overseeing cricket performance after dedicating over two decades to the county, having previously served as skipper before joining the coaching staff in 2014 and taking his current title in 2021.

Meanwhile, David Thorley is also stepping down from his leadership position in the women's department, which he held since 2020 through a period that featured both a restructure into a county setup and domestic cup triumphs in 2025.

On the pitch, the organization struggled significantly during the recent campaign. The men's squad sits seventh in Division Two with one fixture remaining, facing the possibility of finishing at the bottom of the standings for their worst-ever championship result.

The women's team similarly endured a tough run, placing last in the T20 Blast table and missing the knockout rounds of the One-Day Cup. Chief executive Daniel Gidney acknowledged both departures by thanking the outgoing staff for their dedication while emphasizing the county's ultimate objective to contend for trophies and compete successfully.
