The Los Angeles Lakers remain in flux over their Opening Night starting lineup, with coach J.J. Redick still weighing options for the final two spots just 10 days before their season opener against the Golden State Warriors.
While Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler are locked in as starters, Redick has emphasized that the remaining two positions are far from settled. Injuries and preseason absences have complicated evaluations: Kessler, Ziaire Williams, and Collin Sexton have yet to debut, while Reaves and Kessler missed the first two preseason games, and Sexton’s lower-right leg injury has delayed his return further than Kessler’s.
Quentin Grimes, however, has emerged as a frontrunner after starting all three preseason games, averaging 13.4 points per contest with strong shooting efficiency. Redick has praised Grimes’ chemistry with Dončić and Reaves, calling him a perfect fit for the team’s offensive structure, though Williams remains in the conversation as the other likely candidate for the final spot.
