The Phoenix Suns are looking to Luke Kennard to fill a significant offensive role left by Grayson Allen’s departure. Allen, who spent three seasons with the team, was a key contributor, averaging 13.3 points per game while shooting 41.0% from three-point range.
He also led the NBA in three-point shooting accuracy at 46.1% during one of those seasons, playing a critical part in Phoenix’s offense with 68% of his shots coming from beyond the arc. Kennard, however, is proving he’s more than just a shooter, as he’s shown in preseason play.
While he’s still shooting 35.7% from deep, he’s also demonstrated an improved ability to handle the ball and create opportunities, something that wasn’t fully appreciated before his arrival. In limited preseason minutes, Kennard has averaged 12.3 points per game, with 56% of his shots coming from three-point range—a slight drop from his career attempt rate of 58.4%.
His versatility on both ends of the floor could be exactly what the Suns need to maintain their offensive identity without relying solely on perimeter shooting.
