Seventeen-year-old Texas Tech freshman LaDamion Guyton is making waves after reclassifying from the 2027 recruiting class. The former Benedictine Military School standout earned the Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Week honor following a dominant defensive showing in a 49-14 victory over Sam Houston.
During the contest, the outside linebacker tallied three tackles, registered the first two quarterback sacks of his career after halftime, and added a quarterback hurry. Joey McGuire praised the young defender's impact as the Red Raiders advanced to a 4-0 record.
Having debuted earlier against Oregon State, Guyton has accumulated six total tackles, six pressures across his last two outings, and a crucial fumble recovery versus Houston. ESPN previously evaluated the early enrollee as the sixth-best prospect nationally before he arrived on campus in Lubbock.
The outside linebacker will look to continue his disruptive play when the Red Raiders travel to face Colorado in their upcoming Big 12 conference matchup.
