Kelby Telander: From Children’s Hospital Patient To Iowa Football Player

Iowa linebacker Kelby Telander shares a unique bond with the famous Kinnick Stadium tradition where fans wave to pediatric patients at the end of the first quarter. Having been born with hearing difficulties, Telander spent part of his childhood receiving treatment at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

In 2009, he was honored as an Iowa Kid Captain, giving him an early connection to the program he now plays for as a collegiate athlete.
