Karl-Anthony Towns’ dad shades Jimmy Butler over longtime beef: ‘Ain’t got no championship’

Following a championship victory with the New York Knicks in June 2026, Karl Towns Sr. reflected on his son Karl-Anthony Towns' turbulent past with former Minnesota Timberwolves teammate Jimmy Butler.

Recalling previous friction that included Butler labeling his son a loser and criticizing younger players during team flights, the senior Towns pointed out that Butler has not captured a league title while his son has surpassed him.

The history between the two players dates back to their shared seasons in Minnesota, where stylistic clashes and a contract extension sparked massive drama before Butler forced a departure in November 2018. While Butler subsequently reached the NBA Finals twice with the Miami Heat prior to joining the Golden State Warriors, Karl-Anthony Towns eventually advanced the Timberwolves to the 2024 Western Conference finals before capturing the ultimate prize with New York.
