Kapil Dev’s dismissive reaction to India women’s Asia Cup trophy snub involving Mohsin Naqvi

Legendary former India captain Kapil Dev offered a blunt response regarding the national women's cricket team's refusal to collect their Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council leader Mohsin Naqvi. Speaking in Chhattisgarh during the launch of the Nava Raipur Open 2026 golf competition, where he represents the Professional Golf Tour of India as president, the 1983 World Cup winner remarked that the players should take up golf instead.

The snub took place at Dubai International Stadium following Harmanpreet Kaur's squad defeating Sri Lanka in the title match, leaving Naqvi stranded on the stage before he handed the runners-up prize to the Sri Lankans and departed. According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, officials had given advance warning that India would decline the trophy from Naqvi, who simultaneously serves as Pakistan's cabinet minister and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman.
