Josue De Paula embracing new Dodgers role, awaits playoff moment as bench bat

Rookie Josue De Paula originally expected to spend October taking three weeks off at home with his family. Instead, a surprise telephone call from manager Dave Roberts placed the twenty-one-year-old on the Los Angeles Dodgers postseason roster as a reserve left-handed hitter.

Although he has only served as a pinch hitter once or twice during his entire minor league tenure, the rookie impressed leadership during his brief September call-up filling in for Shohei Ohtani.
