Josh Allen delivered a dominant performance to guide the Buffalo Bills to a 41-31 victory against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. Buffalo entered the Week 2 contest favored by 4.5 points in a matchup projected at an over/under of 53.5 points, and their offense met every expectation.
Allen threw for 248 yards and generated five total touchdowns on the evening.
Detroit's defensive strategy heavily emphasized pressuring the opposing signal-caller, blitzing Allen on 55.3 percent of his passing dropbacks according to tracking data. That aggressive approach ultimately proved costly, as Allen repeatedly punished the extra rushers during the Highmark Stadium opener.
