Jon Rahm has officially signaled his departure from the LIV Golf circuit as the organization navigates Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. During a court session in New Jersey, legal counsel for the golfer confirmed he will not participate in the proposed LIV 2.0 structure, with both sides currently negotiating a separation agreement that carries a November 5 deadline.
The bankruptcy filing identifies Rahm's participation contract as the largest unsecured claim at 7.47 million dollars, a significant reduction from his original deal valued at over 300 million dollars. While LIV leadership and new investors recently expressed optimism regarding their revamped business model, the league faces uncertainty as it attempts to secure commitments from other marquee players like Bryson DeChambeau.
Other athletes, including Sergio Garcia, have also engaged in legal discussions regarding the termination of their existing contracts as the organization seeks to restructure.
