Jon Rahm has confirmed he will not join the next iteration of LIV Golf, marking a significant blow to the struggling league as it seeks to restructure without Saudi Arabia’s financial backing. The two-time major champion and former world No.
1, who joined LIV in late 2023 with a reported $300 million signing bonus, had previously indicated he had years left on his contract. However, during a bankruptcy hearing in New Jersey, his attorney revealed Rahm had reviewed the proposed terms for LIV 2.0 and opted out of participating in 2027.
His decision comes amid broader challenges for the circuit, including the withdrawal of Saudi funding after the 2026 season and the PGA Tour’s refusal to engage with players still under LIV contracts. The league’s future hinges on a team-focused model backed by an initial investment from BC Partners Credit, though formal approval remains pending.
Meanwhile, Rahm’s immediate plans remain unclear, as he withdrew from this week’s Spanish Open due to personal circumstances involving his pregnant wife, Kelley.
