Following a rough 41-13 defeat against the Georgia Bulldogs, Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer took full responsibility for his three first-half turnovers that put his squad in a deep hole. While head coach Brent Venables and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle considered pulling their struggling fifth-year starter during the blowout, they ultimately decided to keep him on the field.
Mateer defended his mental sharpness after the contest, stating that his processing speed remains intact despite the poor results. Although the Sooners fell to a 2-2 record overall and 0-1 in conference play, Mateer insisted that the team refuses to give up as they look toward future matchups.
