New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers made an unexpected return during Week 1 at MetLife Stadium, taking the field 350 days after tearing the ACL in his right knee during the previous campaign. Unsure of his physical status until pregame warmups, the 23-year-old had even asked his relatives to stay away to spare them disappointment if he sat out.
Nabers ultimately gave it a go after head coach John Harbaugh tackled him to test his readiness, helping spark New York to a 28-20 triumph over the Dallas Cowboys.
Nabers hauled in six receptions totaling 69 yards during the victory, which marked Harbaugh's first triumph at the helm of the organization. Quarterback Jaxson Dart, also entering his sophomore professional season alongside Nabers, paired with the wideout for a strong showing on Sunday night and celebrated the successful comeback with a heartwarming gesture following the final whistle.
