New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh used an unorthodox motivational tactic prior to his team's season-opening matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. Harbaugh physically brought down wide receiver Malik Nabers during pregame activities to show the pass catcher that his knee could handle contact following surgery for a torn ACL sustained nine months prior.
The physical demonstration erased lingering hesitations regarding Nabers' availability, prompting the wideout to take the field after staying noncommittal leading up to the game.
With quarterback Jaxson Dart also providing insight into the coach's direct approach, Nabers produced immediately by hauling in six receptions for 69 yards. The offensive contribution helped propel New York to a 28-20 divisional victory over Dallas in Week 1.
The triumph marked Harbaugh's first win at the helm of the Giants following his 18-year coaching tenure in Baltimore.
