Prior to acquiring quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Minnesota on September 28, New York Giants coach John Harbaugh consulted his brother, Jim Harbaugh, for an assessment of the player.
Jim, who previously directed McCarthy at Michigan, confirmed during a Wednesday media session that he provided his sibling with a positive recommendation regarding the signal-caller.
The Giants arranged the trade to bolster depth following a season-ending knee injury to Jaxson Dart. Although McCarthy previously struggled with accuracy and injuries during his time with the Vikings, John Harbaugh expressed enthusiasm about adding the former top-ten draft pick, noting that Jameis Winston will remain the team's starter while the newcomer learns the offense.
