Jersey aim for ODI status and T20 World Cup place

Jersey Cricket has unveiled a comprehensive strategic roadmap extending through 2029, setting ambitious targets for the men's national side to secure One-Day International status and enter a World Cup within three years. After narrowly missing a spot in this year's T20 showcase, the squad currently sits atop their standings with five matches remaining ahead of upcoming ICC Challenge League A fixtures in Kenya.

Securing a top-two finish there guarantees advancement to the 2027 World Cup qualifier play-off, where strong results bring official ODI status and a top-four placement unlocks the decisive qualifying phase for the tournament hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia next autumn.

Chief executive Sarah Gomersall emphasized that local talent can consistently match European counterparts like Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands, while noting hopes for an upcoming European nations initiative. The federation's long-range vision also targets World Cup representation for the women's team, backed by local academy structures, dedicated training systems, and a youth pipeline designed to elevate homegrown cricketers directly into national contention.
