Jeffery Simmons is Bears' all-in move. Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson make it worth the risk

Chicago has acquired Jeffery Simmons to bolster a defense that has struggled with consistency despite the team's 5-2 record. While head coach Ben Johnson has successfully revitalized the offense behind quarterback Caleb Williams, the defensive unit currently ranks last in explosive plays allowed, prompting this aggressive move to secure a more dominant presence on the field.

The Bears previously relied heavily on turnover generation to mask defensive shortcomings during their 11-6 campaign last year, but the front office is now prioritizing a more sustainable approach to reach elite status.
