Jaylen Watson on wrong end of 2 TD passes in Rams debut

Jaylen Watson experienced a difficult beginning to his tenure with Los Angeles, surrendering a pair of touchdown completions during his team debut. The defensive struggles contributed to a 27-7 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night in Melbourne, Australia, dropping Los Angeles to the bottom of the NFC West.

Defensive back Quentin Lake conceded that San Francisco executed a superior strategy and outmatched his squad across the board, while quarterback Matthew Stafford struggled significantly in the contest.

San Francisco newcomer Mike Evans made an immediate splash, securing six of seven targets from Brock Purdy, including an end-zone catch for his initial score with his new club. The disappointing opener also raised concerns for the Los Angeles offense, which managed only seven points despite boasting targets Davante Adams and Puka Nacua for head coach Sean McVay.
