Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave is reportedly dealing with a torn Achilles tendon, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The injury occurred late in Sunday’s 31-7 victory over the Chicago Bears, where Hargrave, a 33-year-old veteran, played before the setback.
The Packers signed Hargrave during the offseason, adding him to a defense that has already seen linebacker Edgerrin Cooper suffer the same injury earlier this season, sidelining him for the year. Hargrave’s career has included stints with the Steelers, Eagles, 49ers, and Vikings since being selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
While an MRI will confirm the diagnosis, torn Achilles injuries are typically identifiable without imaging due to their distinct symptoms. The Packers’ defense now faces another potential long-term absence as they prepare for the remainder of the season.
