Both competitors registered an identical mark of 13:53 after running side by side throughout the contest, with West's triumph confirmed minutes afterward to follow up his recent win in Manchester.
West, representing Tonbridge AC, overcame recent illness that hindered his record attempt, while Kavanagh took runner-up honors just short of lowering his personal best. Jack Shayler took third position in 14:02, ahead of Callum Elson in fourth with 14:05 and Henry Hart in fifth with 14:06.
New Zealand athlete Georgie Grgec earned a decisive win in the women's division, fronting the field to finish in 15:30 as preparation for her half marathon at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen. Having formerly lived and trained in the British capital, Grgec utilized the race as a tune-up during her European stay.
Further back, Beatrice Wood claimed second place in 16:07 after outkicking Annabel Morton in a concluding sprint.
