The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Triple-A baseball franchise has officially concluded its era under the RailRiders moniker, wrapping up 13 seasons since the identity was adopted in 2013 following a fan contest honoring local trolley history. The team previously played as the Red Barons from 1989 through 2006 under Philadelphia affiliation, and subsequently as the Yankees until the ballpark renovations and rebranding.
During the 13-year run as the RailRiders, the club compiled an overall record of 1,028 wins and 834 losses, securing the International League title and Triple-A national championship in 2016 alongside six total playoff appearances and three league championship runner-up finishes. The organization announced that a new identity will be revealed in November following the final game played on September 19, 2026.
Throughout the years, the squad experienced numerous historical highlights, including a wild 14-13 comeback victory against Syracuse after trailing by seven runs in the eighth inning on September 3, 2019, as well as several combined no-hitters tossed by pitchers such as Luis Gil, Reggie McClain, Stephen Ridings, Sean Boyle, Brendan Beck, and Carson Coleman.
