Ishan Kishan will miss the upcoming T20I against New Zealand on October 27, 2026, in Wellington, due to a lingering right adductor strain. While his rehabilitation from the low-grade injury sustained during the opening match of the series is progressing, he has not yet reached full match fitness.
The BCCI medical staff is overseeing his recovery process.
Following his injury, India's batting lineup was adjusted, with Tilak Varma to move up to the third position. Kishan's recent performance in the first game was limited, scoring only one run from three deliveries before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner.
He is expected to be replaced in the lineup by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is likely to stay in the position after appearing in the second T20I. Kumar Kushagra will remain part of the Indian squad for the third match.
