Unheralded all-rounder Lone Nasir made a stunning impact during the Irani Cup match against Rest of India after receiving a very late call-up to the Jammu and Kashmir squad. Because his inclusion was so sudden, the twenty-nine-year-old was forced to take the field wearing a borrowed shirt featuring teammate Vivrant Sharma's name taped across the back.
Despite the rushed preparation, Nasir quickly made headlines by capturing three dismissals on the opening day of competition.
Nasir subsequently followed up his bowling heroics with an aggressive knock of sixty-four runs from fifty-eight deliveries to rescue his side from deep trouble. Entering the crease at number ten with the total struggling at one hundred sixty-six for eight, he forged a crucial partnership alongside captain Paras Dogra to revitalize the innings.
Reflecting on his rescue act, Nasir noted that guiding the team out of such precarious situations was a familiar challenge from his under-twenty-three days.
