New Zealand’s ODI series opener against India has been thrown into disarray by a mounting injury crisis, with opener Devon Conway ruled out of Wednesday’s match after suffering a concussion in a training collision. Conway, who was struck by fast bowler Matt Henry during a fielding session at Eden Park, was hospitalized following the incident and will now miss the first game of the five-match series.
The Black Caps now face the challenge of replacing Conway at the top of the order, with Tim Seifert expected to step in. Conway’s absence compounds an already strained squad, as New Zealand will also be without Mark Chapman (hamstring), Rachin Ravindra (shoulder), Zak Foulkes (hip flexor), and Will O’Rourke (hamstring and calf).
Henry, who collided with Conway, remains under assessment for his own fitness after a muscle tear sustained earlier in the T20I series against India.
