Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti faces backfield concerns ahead of his team's matchup against Rutgers, as running back Khobie Martin will be unavailable. Insider Pete Thamel reported that Martin is ruled out, while teammate Lee Beebe Jr.

carries a questionable designation and Turbo Richard is expected to return from an ankle injury. The Hoosiers enter this contest following a narrow 29-23 escape against Northwestern, a game where Beebe carried the ball 24 times for 203 yards and a touchdown.

Rutgers prepares for this Big Ten meeting after bouncing back from a close 42-35 defeat against USC by dismantling Howard 58-7. Indiana looks to maintain its physical ground game led by Cignetti's committee approach, bolstered by the potential return of Boston College transfer Richard.

Both squads aim to assert themselves on the ground as the conference schedule continues.
