Indiana football’s historic 22-game winning streak—including a national championship in 2025—came to an abrupt end with a 19-15 loss to Ohio State on Saturday. The Hoosiers, who had been undefeated since a playoff defeat to Notre Dame in December 2024, fell just short of a second consecutive perfect season after a missed touchdown catch by Nick Marsh in the final seconds.
The loss also snapped Indiana’s 15-game Big Ten win streak, the longest active run in the conference, and marked the first time under coach Curt Cignetti that the Hoosiers had lost to a Big Ten opponent outside Ohio State since 2023. Meanwhile, Ohio State secured a critical victory to keep its playoff hopes alive after a shaky start to the season.
Cignetti, who had led Indiana from the FBS’s worst program to a 33-3 record, now faces his first loss at the school since taking over. The setback also ended Indiana’s longest active FBS win streak, a remarkable stretch that included a 16-0 season and a title run.
With only one ranked opponent left on the schedule, the Hoosiers’ sudden defeat reshapes the landscape for both teams heading into the postseason push.
