Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has introduced an inclusive initiative ahead of the upcoming India vs Zimbabwe women’s T20I series in Raipur, offering free entry to female spectators for the October 16 match at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium. This marks the first international women’s cricket fixture in the city, with the three-match T20I series running through October 20.
The move, proposed during an invitation to the CM by state cricket officials, aims to boost attendance during Navaratri festivities and aligns with broader efforts to promote women’s cricket in the region. Following the T20Is, both teams will travel to Vadodara for a three-match ODI series from October 23–28, while the Elite Group A games of the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy have been relocated from Delhi to Surat due to stadium upgrades at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
The series also marks Smriti Mandhana’s debut as India’s full-time women’s cricket captain, following Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership during their recent gold medal win at the 2026 Asian Games.
