Former New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has expressed confidence in India’s pace attack ahead of their upcoming tour, singling out Mohammed Siraj as a potential standout performer. Southee, who played 107 Tests for New Zealand, praised Siraj’s relentless approach and adaptability, suggesting his aggressive running-in and ability to adjust lengths could trouble the Black Caps on New Zealand’s bouncy pitches.
The tour begins with T20Is on October 22, 2026, followed by a two-Test series starting November 19 in Wellington and Christchurch, with matches also scheduled in Auckland, Hamilton, and Mount Maunganui. Southee noted that New Zealand have historically handled Jasprit Bumrah well in Test cricket, with no Indian team featuring him defeating the hosts in that format.
He also highlighted the broader Indian pace group, including Prasidh Krishna, as capable of thriving on New Zealand’s challenging conditions, despite the pitches potentially flattening after the first two days. The Black Caps’ recent 2-1 Test series win in England further underscores their strength at home, while Southee acknowledged their batting lineup’s preparedness for local conditions.
